Nishant Kumar, son of former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, will embark on a statewide ‘Sadbhav Yatra’ on Sunday from Bihar’s West Champaran district. The initiative is being seen as Nishant’s significant entry into active politics, with a focus on communicating his father’s 20 years of work to the public.
In an effort to establish himself as a mass leader, Nishant Kumar is following in his father’s footsteps.

In 2005, Nitish Kumar had first reached out to the people through the ‘Nyay Yatra’ to understand public grievances. Since then, he has undertaken 16 statewide tours. The most recent was the ‘Samriddhi Yatra,’ conducted after winning the 2025 Assembly elections.
A key feature of these tours has been direct public engagement.
As per the schedule, Nishant will also participate in public meetings in every district, where he will interact with residents to discuss their concerns and gather feedback. He will hold detailed district-level review meetings to assess the strength and performance of the party.
Bihar JD(U) president Umesh Singh Kushwaha said the journey, beginning from Bapu’s ‘karmbhoomi,’ will usher in a new era in Bihar’s politics. During the yatra, Nishant will establish direct communication with party workers from the district level down to the panchayat level, which will not only strengthen the organisation but also give a new direction to social harmony.
Kushwaha added that Nishant has resolved to further strengthen and carry forward the policy of ‘development with justice’ established by Nitish Kumar, complete unfinished tasks, and, under his guidance, provide renewed strength to the organisation.
He expressed confidence that the positive impact of the yatra will be reflected in Bihar’s politics for decades to come.
